Frequently Asked Questions

Payment safety, delays, customs, and how Protected Procurement actually works.

Straight answers to the questions we hear most from Indian buyers sourcing from China for the first time.

Payment safety

Is my payment safe?

It depends on which service you use. For Remote Verification, On-Site Inspection, and PO Guardianship, you pay us directly for our time — there's no purchase money passing through us at all. Under Protected Procurement, you contract with and pay CXRT on a milestone schedule, and CXRT releases funds to the Chinese manufacturer only against verified milestones — so you're never wiring money directly to a factory you've never dealt with. Either way, on-site verification happens before final payment is released.

What happens if a defect is found?

We flag it before shipment and before your final payment — giving you leverage to request a fix, negotiate a discount, or hold the order, instead of discovering the problem after the goods have already left China. The finding is documented with dated, geo-tagged photo and video evidence so you have a clear record either way.

What happens if there's a dispute with the factory?

Because we're independent of every factory we work with, we act on your behalf when something's wrong — following up with the vendor, escalating through the manufacturer's own management if needed, and documenting the issue with dated photo and video evidence so you have a clear record if it needs to go further.

What happens if a vendor delays after payment is received?

Active follow-up is built into order management — we chase the factory on your behalf and flag slipping timelines early, rather than you finding out only once the ship date has already passed.

Getting started

What's the minimum order size?

For On-Site Inspection, the minimum engagement is currently one day — we're keeping this flexible while we build a track record, and will revisit as we scale. Remote Verification is a flat per-engagement fee with no minimum. For Protected Procurement orders there's no hard minimum, though very small orders may not be economical once our fee and the manufacturer's own minimum order quantity are factored in — happy to give you a straight answer for your specific order.

Do you work with first-time importers?

Yes. First-time and small buyers are often not taken seriously by factories on their own — that's exactly the gap Protected Procurement fills, using our existing manufacturer relationships to get your order handled properly.

How fast can an inspection be arranged?

Typically scheduled around the factory's production stage rather than a fixed lead time — tell us the order and location and we'll confirm timing.

Where in China can you do on-site visits?

Currently Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Anhui — the Yangtze River Delta radius around our Changzhou base, which keeps travel fast and affordable. Other regions are available on request, with travel charged at cost.

How much does this cost compared to QIMA or SGS?

Third-party inspection in China typically runs $250–$320 per man-day with the larger networks. We charge $200/day plus travel at cost with original receipts — not because we cut the visit short, but because we're two people in Changzhou serving Indian buyers, not a large inspector network with a sales office in Hong Kong.

What happens if you find nothing wrong — do I still pay?

Yes. You're paying for an independent visit and an honest report, not a guaranteed defect. A clean report is a good outcome — it's the confirmation you needed before releasing payment, and it's exactly as valuable as one that catches a problem.

Protected Procurement

What is Protected Procurement, exactly?

You tell us what you need and from which manufacturer. You contract with CXRT, not the factory — CXRT places the order, holds the Chinese-law supply contract, verifies production and testing itself, and releases your money to the factory only against verified milestones. You pay CXRT 30% at PO, 40% at verified pre-shipment acceptance, and 30% after arrival, and the goods ship to you on a CIF basis, for a fee on the order. It lets you work with strong Chinese manufacturers on structured, milestone-based terms instead of a full advance.

How does credit vetting work?

We review your company's standing and reputation before agreeing to pay a manufacturer upfront on your behalf. This is offered on a case-by-case basis to buyers who check out as creditworthy and vetted — exact requirements are confirmed directly, since they vary with order size and manufacturer.

Is this a loan or a financing product?

No — it's a procurement and trade-facilitation service. You contract with CXRT, CXRT holds the Chinese-law supply contract with the factory and releases funds against verified milestones, and you pay CXRT on the 30 / 40 / 30 milestone schedule. CXRT is paid a fee on the order, not interest, and there is no borrowing or repayment. Exact terms are set out in a service agreement, confirmed contract by contract.

Customs & compliance

Do you handle GST or customs on my side?

We handle sourcing, negotiation, and verification in China, plus export documentation and logistics coordination up to your destination port. GST and customs clearance on the Indian side typically sit with your own customs house agent (CHA) — we're glad to coordinate with them directly if useful.

Do you provide export documentation?

Yes — logistics documentation and coordination with your freight forwarder is part of the standard workflow for every order.

About the service

Are you affiliated with any Chinese factory or manufacturer?

No. CXRT Co. is Indian-owned and takes no commission or kickback from any factory. We're not paid by, employed by, or invested in any manufacturer we deal with. We are engaged and paid by the buyer, and we report only to the buyer — that independence is the entire point of the verification service.

How do I know my supplier is a real manufacturer and not a trading company?

You mostly can't, from India. A trading company can show you a factory photo, a certificate and a slick WeChat profile without owning a production line at all. What it does own is an extra margin stacked on your price — and no real control over production when something goes wrong.

The check itself is cheap: a Chinese company's business licence states its registered scope of business, which says whether it is licensed to manufacture or only to trade. That is part of Remote Verification at a $50 flat fee, and it is worth doing before you commit to anything larger. If you want to go further, an on-site visit confirms whether the production line actually exists and is theirs.

When in the order should an inspection happen?

Before the balance payment leaves your account. Once the money has gone and the goods have shipped, your leverage is largely gone — the window where an inspection changes the outcome is between production finishing and that final payment going out. For a first order with a new supplier, a licence check at the start and an on-site visit before the balance is the usual pairing.

How is CXRT Co. different from a generic Chinese or Hong Kong inspection agency?

Nearly all of the agencies we compete with serving Indian buyers are Chinese or Hong Kong-owned — perfectly competent, but built around the factory relationship, not the Indian buyer's. CXRT Co. is founded and run by an Indian national who has personally worked as a senior buyer for a multi-billion-dollar mining company — so the alignment goes both ways: no factory ties, and no foreign-ownership blind spot either. We understand the buyer's side of a purchase order because we've lived it.

What's your liability if something is missed?

CXRT Co. verifies and reports to the best of our professional judgment; our liability is capped at the fees paid for the engagement. Full terms are provided in our engagement agreement before any paid work begins.

Can I use the inspection service without using you as my sourcing agent?

Yes — Remote Verification and On-Site Inspection are standalone services. You don't need to buy through us at all; we can simply check what your existing supplier is telling you.

Is pricing really fixed, or does it change per order?

The rates on this site are what we work from — $50 flat for a remote check, $200/day on-site, $1,500/month for PO Guardianship, and published fee tiers for Protected Procurement. Travel and hotel for inspections are billed at cost with receipts, and anything unusually complex is always discussed upfront, never added as a surprise afterward.
